Air Fryer Ham

I always thought of ham as being rather boring. It was always something that was added to a cheese sandwich to give it extra depth.

Plus, for many years I was a vegetarian and I always hated the fact that whenever you bought a cheese sandwich that someone had stuck some ham in it!

Then I met Dominic and he showed me a brand new love for ham. He showed me that there were many tasty ways to prepare it.

Some simple and some not so simple and I soon fell in love ham.

I think part of my hatred for itgrowing up, was the fact that it was often smoked. This is something I stillhate now, as long as the ham is unsmoked then I am happy.

In this air fryer ham recipe (which is super simple to make) it is flavoured with a honey mustard glaze and cooked on the rotisserie in the air fryer oven.

We like to have air fryer ham in the summer with some salad and then in winter we cook our air fryer ham as a roast dinner with some air fryer roast potatoes and steamed vegetables.

Air Fryer GammonJoint Vs Air Fryer Boneless Ham

Before youdig into our air fryer ham recipe, I wanted to set the record straight ofsomething that I see getting asked on air fryer Facebook Groups whenever someonecooks ham/gammon.

Air Fryer Gammon Joint = the name given to uncooked boneless ham that needs cooking that is bought in Europe.

A gammon joint is what us Brits grew up calling it and I know often when someone shares an air fryer gammon joint recipe, every American is asking what it is.

Air Fryer Boneless Ham = The same thing applies with Brits when they see recipes that talk about ham, or boneless ham.

To the typical Brit ham represents cooked ham meat and that is why they often roll their eyes and ask a million questions when someone says an hour for ham, as in their world the ham is already cooked and ready for sandwiches.

So next time you see air fryer gammon joints being mentioned you now know what it really means!

Can You Air FryHam?

Absolutely! Ham cooks fantastically in the air fryer. In fact, since I started cooking air fryer ham, I doubt I will ever cook ham in the oven, or in the slow cooker again.

That is because not only does the air fryer keep the ham moist, but it also gives it that fantastic crispy crust, that you just don’t get with a slow cooker.

Air fryer ham is more of a baked air fryer ham and gives it a wonderful just baked depth of flavour.

It is perfect for if you want an air fryer ham roast and by cooking it in the air fryer oven (like we are today) you have room to add in potatoes and vegetables too for the ultimate ham roast dinner in the air fryer.

Notes

Ham can be over salty, so you don’t need to add extra salt to the ham before cooking it.

A good indicator of heat (instead of a thermometer) is how hot the inside rod of your rotisserie is on touch.

We use garlic, honey and mustard but you can mix up your air fryer ham with your favourite flavours.
